The Sum Of All Fears (2002)

The Sum Of All Fears is a first person tactical shooter based on the film of the same name. It was made in 2002 by Red Storm, creators of the very first Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon games. The player controls various members of the FBI HRT (Hostage Rescue Team).

WORK IN PROGRESS!!!

NOTICE:
Although the game is a first person shooter, the weapons in the player's hands cannot be seen in-game. (Same as in the first Ghost Recon video game.) That is the reason why there are no "classic" first person screenshots on this page.

The following weapons appear in the video game The Sum Of All Fears:

Handguns

Beretta 92SB

The "9mm Pistol" in the game is probably based on a Beretta 92SB. It also could be the more popular Beretta 92FS, because the rounded trigger guard is just a question of detail. This "9mm Pistol" is the default sidearm in the game. Holds 15 rounds. A suppressed version ("9mm Pistol SD") can also be used for stealth operations.

Beretta 93R

The Beretta 93R with wooden grips appears as "9mm Automatic" in the game but it fires correctly in semi-automatic and 3-round burst modes. Holds 15 rounds in the magazines. It is used as the secondary weapon if the PSG1, P90TR or M3 Super 90 is selected as a primary.

IMI/Magnum Research Desert Eagle MK I

The Desert Eagle MK I appears as "0.357 Pistol" and holds 9 rounds.

Colt M1911

The M1911 retains its original designation in the game. Performs like the Desert Eagle MK I, but holds only 7 bullets in the magazine.

Submachine Guns

Heckler & Koch MP5A4

The H&K MP5A4 is one of the first weapons the player can use in the game. The world model lacks the 3-round burst option on the selector (is basically an MP5A2) and the magazine is straight as if it was the 10mm Auto (MP5/10A2) or .40S&W (MP5/40A2) model. Referred to as "9mm SMG".

Heckler & Koch MP5KA4

The H&K MP5KA4 appears as "9mm Compact SMG" and can be used as a secondary weapon for the suppressed Accuracy International Arctic Warfare sniper rifle. The world model of this weapon also lacks the 3-round burst option.

Heckler & Koch MP5SD5

The H&K MP5SD5 appears as "9mm SMG SD" in the game. Used only by the HRT unit.

IMI Uzi

The IMI Uzi appears as "9mm Auto Pistol" in the game. It is a primary weapon and correctly holds 32 rounds.

MAC-10

The MAC-10 is another usable weapon in the game. Called "0.45 Auto Pistol", the MAC-10 offers good accuracy, stopping power and high rate of fire. Holds 30 rounds in the magazine.

Fabrique Nationale P90TR

The FN P90TR appears as "5.7mm SMG" in the game. Can fire in semi-auto, 3-round burst and full-auto.

Shotguns

Benelli M3 Super 90

The Benelli M3 Super 90 with pistol grip appears as "12ga Pump SG" in the game. Holds 7 shells but can be fired as fast as if it was a semi-automatic shotgun. When it runs empty, it can be fully reloaded in one second.

Pancor Jackhammer

The Pancor Jackhammer is a usable shotgun in the game. Holds correctly 10 rounds and can fire in semi-auto or full-auto modes. In reality this shotgun never made past prototypes but in this game various terrorists, FBI and CIA operatives use it as their weapon of choice. Called "12ga Auto SG" in the game.

Knight's Armament Company Masterkey

Called "12ga UB Shotgun" in The Sum Of All Fears, the Masterkey can be mounted on an M4A1 and works as a secondary weapon in the game. Holds erroneously 6 shells instead of the real weapons 3+1 capacity and appears to shoot in semi-automatic mode. This attachment can be reloaded in about one seconds, as if it had a box magazine and not a tubular one.

Assault and Battle Rifles

Colt M4A1

The M4A1 appears in three different configurations: with reflex scope mounted on a flattop upper receiver (called "M4"); with grip, laser sight and red dot scope (called "Spec Ops M4"); and with Masterkey below the barrel (called "M4/Shotgun"). Since the player can only customize his own weapons, team members often use an M4A1 even if the player chooses a submachine gun or sniper rifle. The "Spec Ops M4" can erroneously fire in 3-round burst mode while the other two versions (correctly) can't.

Colt M16A4

The flattop upper and the semi-auto/3-round burst fire mode suggests that the "M16" in the game is actually an M16A4. Also appears with an M203 grenade launcher (called "M16/M203"), but using this configuration discards the secondary weapon.

Heckler & Koch G3A3

The H&K G3A3 appears with its 20-round magazine and slimline handguard. Often used by hostile NPC's throughout the game. Called "7.62mm AR".

Heckler & Koch G36K

The Heckler & Koch G36K appears in the game as "5.56mm Carbine". It can fire in 3-round burst mode, although this option in reality is available only on special models.

Izhmash AKS-74U

Called "5.45mm SMG" in the game, the AKS-74U is the perfect weapon when high stopping power, superb accuracy and fast reloading speed is necessary. Just like the M4A1 and Heckler & Koch G36K, it can be fired in 3-round burst mode.

Steyr AUG A1

The AUG A1 appears as "Bullpup AR" in The Sum Of All Fears. The "bonus" 3-round burst mode is also present on this weapon, too.

Izhmash AK-74M

The Izhmash AK-74M is frequently used by hostile forces throughout the campaign. This weapon cannot be used by the player in the game.

Other

M203

The M203 grenade launcher can be mounted on an M16A4. It is a secondary weapon and is capable of clearing a room with one shot - something no other weapon can do in the game.

M26 grenade

The M26 hand grenade is used by both sides in the game. Called simply "FRAG".

Flashbang

Team mates can be ordered to throw a flashbang into a room before proceeding. Strangely lots of terrorists use them also.
