The Raid is a 2011 Indonesian action film directed by Gareth Evans and starring Iko Uwais as a member of a 20-man Detachment 88 team that must fight its way out of a criminal-infested apartment building after being trapped there by a vicious drug lord. The film made its North American debut at the Toronto Film Festival, and entered a wider release in early 2012. A sequel is planned.
The making of the movie shows airsoft guns used as props in the movie. None of the firearms in this movie are real. The ejected shells and flashes were all added digitally.
The following weapons were used in the film The Raid: Redemption:
Handguns
Glock 17
Third-generation Glock 17 pistols are used by the Detachment 88 officers, including Rama (Iko Uwais).
Smith & Wesson Model 327
A thug attempts to shoot Rama and Bowo (Tegar Satrya) with a Smith & Wesson Model 327. Later, Lieutenant Wahyu (Pierre Gruno) takes a nickel-plated Smith & Wesson Model 327 from another thug.
SIG-Sauer P226
Mad Dog (Yaya Ruhian) uses a SIG-Sauer P226 when he confronts Sergeant Jaka (Joe Taslim).
Rifles
Heckler & Koch HK416
Nearly all of the Detachment 88 operators use Heckler & Koch HK416 rifles with attached suppressors. These guns are in reality airsoft replicas of the 416 made by WE.
Special
Remington 700
Other thugs are shown aiming Remington 700 sniper rifles as they prepare to ambush the Detachment 88 team. These guns are airsoft replicas of the KJ M700 Takedown.
Knight's Armament PDW
Several thugs fire Knight's Armament PDWs during various action sequences. These guns are in reality airsoft replicas of the PDW made by WE, distinguishable by their STANAG-style magazines.
Special
AKS-74U
A number of Tama's thugs use AKS-74U carbines to attack the Detachment 88 team.
Special
Miscellanea
All the team members were sent to actor boot camp with KOPASKA, a frogman and UDT unit of the Indonesian Navy, to learn weapons handling and tactics.
