I believe the "M21" used in the film is actually a Beretta-manufactured BM-59, similar to both the Garand and the M14. http://world.guns.ru/assault/as54-e.htm

::I was going to say that, after noting later that the film was an AUSTRALIAN movie. (but it was late and IMFDB was experiencing technical difficulties on me)  Foreign films would have access to more exotic weapons than U.S. films.  BM-59s just never were common in the U.S.  Military BM-59s would actually require a bit of work to alter the front end to make it look like a faux M14, but your link shows a great shot of a civilian one that looks like the ones in the film. This may be the first appearance of an Italian BM-59 in a movie on IMFDB. MoviePropMaster2008

What about the rifle in the first picture, and in the background of the second picture (under BM59.) Those don't look anything like a BM59, if anything, and I don't know how likely this is, they sort of look like Gewehr 43s. Anyone else see that? --funkychinaman 03:21, 23 November 2010 (UTC)

:::Movie perhaps but a civilian Para version did make an appearance in Season 2 of Miami Vice complete with folding stock and flash suppressor/grenade launcher.  http://www.imfdb.org/index.php/Miami_Vice_-_Season_2#Beretta_BM59 --Charon68 23:14, 22 November 2010 (UTC)
