The following guns were used by the following actors in the movie:

Colt Sporter 1 Carbine

File:Dogs2.jpg

Carried by Christopher Walken, Ed O'Neil, Tom Berenger, and the rest of the mercenaries at the beginning of the film, when they are fleeing a Central American Airfield. They are not real CAR-15s nor XM177 rifles. Special Effects Unlimited, Inc. converted Colt Sporter Carbines with the 16" barrels and made them resemble the XM177 series of short rifles with an aftermarket flashhider.

Late 1970s model AR15 Sporter 1 Carbine - converted into an XM177 Lookalike for the film "Dogs of War" - 5.56mm

Uzi

The main weapon used by the mercenaries during the final assault. At one point Shannon's (Walken) weapon has a suppressor and a small Starlight scope mounted on it.

The one in the center of the picture is not a real Uzi; it's a MAC-10 visually modified to look like one. Similar guns have been seen in movies such as Raw Deal and Stripes.

MM1 grenade launcher

The multi-shot grenade launcher used in the final assault. Known as the "XM-18" in the movie the weapon itself is based on the Manville shotgun. The movie version does fire 18 rounds while the final, real world version has a 12 round capacity. Used primarily by Walken and Berrenger in the final assault.

M60

File:Dogs3.jpg

Used in the final assault. First on a fixed mount by the Zangaran troops and then by the mercenaries including "Derek" who removes it from the mount for the final shootout at Kimba's compound. It should be noted that Paul Freeman who plays the role of former SAS trooper "Derek" does the "correct" thing during most of his weapons use in the movie by firing short, controlled bursts from both the M-60 and his Uzi.

SKS Carbine

SKS - Russian Manufacture with blade bayonet - 7.62x39mm

Seen in the hands of a Zangaran guard who is later killed by Shannon (Walken) during his initial recon of the Zangaran capital.

Walther P38

Used by a Zangaran woman to shoot Berrenger's character in the back during the final assault.

Browning Hi-Power

Used by Walken's character to kill "Colonel Bobbi" towards the end of the movie

M72 LAW

Used by the mercenaries during the final assault for both anti-tank and as a bunker buster kind of weapon

M18A1 Claymore

Shown being laid out in a zig-zag pattern by Berrenger`s character during the assault.

MAC-10

Mixed in with the mercenaries using Uzis during the weapons training on the ship are a few MAC-10s. Maybe they ran out of Uzis???

MAB P-15

Carried by Jean-François Stévenin, when his truck is inspected by the border police.

Beretta M951

M951 Brigadier - 9mm

Christopher Walken keeps a Beretta M951 "Brigadier" in his home.

FN FAL

The Zangaran troops utilize some variant of the FN FAL. It looks much like an L1A1 with very early wooden FAL furniture.
