Ketchum Grenade

The Ketchum Grenade is an American hand grenade designed by William F. Ketchum in 1861 for use by the Union Army during the American Civil War. It consists of a metal shell containing a percussion cap that ignites a black powder charge. In order to detonate, the grenade must fall on a convex plunger fixed to the nose of the device.
