Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl is the 2003 adventure film inspired by the popular Disneyland ride of the same name. Set in 1720, the film stars Johnny Depp in his now iconic role as pirate Captain Jack Sparrow. The success of the film would spawn a franchise that has spanned 5 features including: Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (2006) and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End (2007), Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (2011) and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (2017).

Flintlock Pistols

Several versions of the Flintlock Pistol are used by numerous characters in the film.

.50 cal English Flintlock

Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) carries a .50 caliber English Flintlock Pistol as his sidearm. He draws it several times, but is reluctant to use it because he is saving his last shot for his traitorous shipmate Barbossa. Jack's pistol is sometimes not a reproduction, but a real 17th century flintlock. According to Independent Studio Services, at least one of the pistols used was a reproduction.
